REVIEW:
If you wanted a book that covers the best of a traditional French kitchen then this is it. With stories of producers, regions and techniques illustrated in charming blackboard drawings Stephane Reynaud brings the brings the essence of the cooking to life, and shows it as part of everyday life. The 299 recipes (no I didn't count, the press release told me) are simply told and most make cooking these dishes simple and easy. There is a sense of whimsy about Ripailles ("feasts" in English) that make it a great read as well as an invaluable one stop French cookbook.
