REVIEW:
I've known Neil Perry for over 25 years and his passion for Asian flavours goes back all that time. He explains at the beginning that it relates back to dining in Chinatown with his father as achild, and fascinated him ever since. His passion has a Chinese base but explores the surrounding cuisines through the various recipes sorted through soups, salads, braising, steaming, stir-fries and sweets. He puts together banquets and adds notes (from his restaurant's sommeliers) on matching wine to the food, and some advice on equipment and ingredients. It's a comprehensive book to cover much more than the basics of Asian food, and photography brings it all tp life. The beautiful box package perhaps adds more than a substantial amount to the overall cost of the book but does make it a great Christmas present. And no doubt you'll find it at less than the quoted price.
