Guy Grossi - Recipes from my Mother's Kitchen
Books - Food

REVIEW:
There are various sides to Guy Grossi. There is the chef who desparately wants to be a TV star, the chef behind the stange amalagam of cultures that is Florentino, and there is the boy who rejoices in his family and its background. Of his three books Grossi Florentino: Secrets & Recipes is mostly a history of the glamorous, if faded, restaurant and its overworked food. My Italian Heart is the formulaic chef's book aimed at commercial success, while this last (and there can't be much more to say) - Recipes from my Mother's Kitchen - is heartfelt and honest. With chapters arranged around stages of life and short, stilted histories of the Grossi family from Italy to Australia, the recipes and their glossy images shine with pride. This is food that you want to cook, or preferably have someone cook for you ... generous, hearty, flavoursome Italian food that makes you wish your mother cooked like Guy's.
